You may bring a brush/comb and if you wear contact lenses, bring a case to store them in. We supply everything else, gowns, ear plugs, shampoo/conditioner and hairdryers.  We are also pleased to inform our clients that we are able to provide you with a take home “compostable” towel made from recycled products.  These are provided free of charge for your use as a brand new towel which you can take home and use several more times before they can be used as a rag, then ultimately, in your compost.  Minimise your environmental footprint.

We can also provide clean normal washed towels for those that wish to use these.

The saline solution does not support parasitic, fungal or bacterial life in the water. Float Therapy is extremely sanitary. Guests are required to shower before entering the float room. At The Life Spring Float Centre we take every precaution to provide you with the cleanest, safest and most relaxing experience possible. The water is run through a water filtration system extensively between each client including passing through a UV light.  The water is tested by our qualified staff and is also tested by the Health Department on a regular basis.
No, the salt is actually very good for skin and leaves you feeling soft and silky after your shower, and not at all wrinkly. If you have abrasions, scratches or other cuts, the salt can sting slightly. We suggest you do not shave four hours before your session, and cover any cuts or abrasions with the provided Vaseline.
You’re always in control of your environment. You may keep the pod door open and light on. People with extreme cases of claustrophobia have consistently reported no problems.
ENJOY it! The water has a high content of Epsom salts, which provides natural buoyancy. It is physically impossible to sink or to turn over in your sleep. Lie back and the solution will totally support you. If you do fall asleep while floating it will be one of the most rested and deep states of sleep you will ever experience.
Only one person per tank. We do however have three pod rooms, so up to three people can float simultaneously in our wellness centre.
Absolutely. We have three tanks available. Floating is such an amazing experience, why not share it with others!
There are virtually no negative side-effects. All the effects of deep sensory relaxation are wholly beneficial and work simultaneously at a physical, mental and emotional level.
Anything you wear will get very heavy with the salt solution and press against your body, becoming a distraction. We recommend going without; however, if you prefer to wear a swimsuit you are welcome to.
Epsom Salt is Magnesium Sulphate and is non toxic. It has been used for centuries for it’s healing properties. It raises the density of the water making you float and it softens your skin. It’s also great to soak in if you have a magnesium sulphate deficiency.  See benefits of floating and blog written with more information on this.
Yes. There is a vent that allows air to be expelled and fresh air to come into the pod.
Not right away.  Please allow for at least 4 washes after dyeing your hair before floating.  Hair dye in the tanks will result in a hefty fine, and you don’t want that.
Sure you can, just use the same protocol you’d use for a swimming pool.
There are some occasions when floating isn’t recommended, the list below highlights these;

  • Before shaving or waxing
  • If you are severely sun burnt
  • If you have dyed your hair with a water based dye
  • If you are intoxicated by alcohol or drugs
  • If you are pregnant we recommend you speak to your health practitioner prior especially in the third trimester
  • If you are suffering from an unstable mental health condition, such as psychosis or have suicidal tendencies
  • If you have kept your contact lenses in
  • If you are an epileptic where seizures could endanger your safety in the float tank
  • If you have extremely low blood pressure
  • If you have a severe skin condition (eczema) or a contagious disease or infectious skin condition and open/infected wounds
  • If it has been less than two weeks since you experienced gastroenteritis/diarrhoea
  • Those with asthma, a heart condition, diabetes should seek advice from their health care provider before coming in
  • If you have had chemotherapy (you will need to wait 2 months)
You can get out anytime. That said, the 60-minutes usually goes by a lot faster than you’d expect, most people report being quite surprised when their time is up.
Floating is a uniquely different experience for everybody. The most common reports are profound calmness and relaxation, deep concentration and creativity. We like to avoid saying too much before people use the tank, so that they aren’t influenced by it. Not only will it be different for you than it is for anyone else, you’ll probably find that it’s also different each time you float. And the more you float the better it gets.
During the day we are constantly bombarded by sensory input and mental activity. Often during your first float your mind will be adjusting to the lack of stimulation and you may be thinking you want to be entertained! As you continue to relax and allow the mind to let go, the deep relaxation and sense of calm that happens is not boring and is often timeless.
Floating is often a passive experience; the less you do the deeper you will relax. However, you may also choose to use your time to “actively” direct the experience in the float tank. For example: prepare for an important event by going through it in your head, meditate, pray, do breathing exercises, stretch, and so on. Some people set an intention before going into the tank (i.e., abundance, well-being). Most people, however, enjoy just letting go and flowing with wherever the experience takes them. The sensation of weightlessness is fun in and of itself!
Expectations are one of the greatest hindrances to having a good float. Just allow yourself to let go and know that whatever your experience, your body is receiving the benefits of deep relaxation and the body absorbing the magnesium.
Yes. As their bodies get heavier, floating is a great relief from the pull of gravity. The zero-gravity environment is ideal for managing back pain and discomfort during pregnancy. But with any kind of new activity it is always best to consult with your doctor especially at your third trimester.
